If they were to meet, I believe they could create something extraordinary together." Defending Ranveer Singh, Shetty remarked, "Who has the authority to impose a ban? This young actor has contributed significantly to the industry, generating over 3,500 crore in revenue. Why would anyone want to restrict him? Banning something that audiences wish to see raises questions about the intentions behind such actions."

Reports indicated that the actor had concerns regarding the script, budget adjustments, and Farhan Akhtar's availability due to other obligations. However, both Farhan and producer Ritesh Sidhwani contested these claims, asserting that Ranveer had previously shown excitement for the film.

After Ranveer's departure, Excel Entertainment sought compensation for pre-production expenses, which included costs for look tests and location scouting. It was reported that Ranveer suggested a settlement that involved immediate payment and a reduced fee for a future project, but this proposal was reportedly turned down. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees later intervened, issuing a non-cooperation order against the actor, while the Producers Guild of India also got involved to mediate the situation.

In April, the FWICE enforced a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh following a complaint from Farhan Akhtar. Ranveer's legal representatives contested this action, arguing that the federation did not possess the authority to impose such a directive. After mediation by IMPPA, the FWICE rescinded the order in early June.
