SS Rajamouli's Upcoming Films to Premiere in France
Exciting Screenings for French Audiences
Fans in France are set to experience exclusive previews of Varanasi and Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1 through special screenings nationwide. Renowned Telugu director SS Rajamouli is currently in France, having attended the Annecy Film Festival to provide updates on the animated Baahubali project. Following this, he will travel to various cities in France to showcase some of his most celebrated films and share insights into his upcoming projects. Both Varanasi and Baahubali: The Eternal War Part 1 are expected to hit theaters in 2027.
Special Film Festival Featuring SS Rajamouli in France
The official social media account for Varanasi recently announced a special retrospective event in France, scheduled from June 26 to July 4, 2026. This festival will feature Rajamouli's acclaimed films, including the Baahubali series, Eega, Maryada Ramanna, and the Oscar-winning RRR, across cities like Paris, Lyon, and Neuchâtel.
Every screening will include glimpses of Varanasi and the animated Baahubali: The Eternal War. A video shared on social media captured the enthusiastic response from French audiences to the teaser of the animated film, which centers around the slain Prince Baahubali. Prabhas will reprise his role as the iconic character. Directed by Ishan Shukla, The Eternal War is co-written by Madhan Karky, Deva Katta, and Scott Mosier, with the story crafted by Sowmya Sharma.
The two-part animated epic was also featured at the ongoing Annecy Film Festival during its Work in Progress panel, where director Shukla, VFX supervisor Simon Brown, writer Sharma, art director Ajay Lele, and animation director Antoine Charreyron joined Rajamouli.
Updates on Varanasi from Rajamouli
In addition to revisiting the Baahubali universe, fans are eagerly anticipating Rajamouli's next grand project, Varanasi, which stars Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and Prakash Raj. In a recent interview with Variety, Rajamouli revealed that the major action sequences for Varanasi have been completed, and he aims to finish filming the remaining scenes by October 2026.
At the recent Cannes Lions event, Priyanka Chopra mentioned that the Telugu film, ambitiously shot in IMAX, will be dubbed in 200 languages. Varanasi is set to premiere in theaters worldwide on April 7, 2027. The screenplay for Varanasi has been crafted by Rajamouli's father, V Vijayendra Prasad, alongside SS Kanchi, with music composed by Oscar winner MM Keeravani.
