Los Angeles: The latest installment, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, has surpassed the remarkable milestone of $2 billion in worldwide box office earnings.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the film debuted on July 31, with Holland returning as Spider-Man and Zendaya portraying Michelle Jones-Watson. The cast also includes Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Krondon as Tombstone, and Sadie Sink as Jean Grey.
According to reports from a prominent entertainment news source, the film's total earnings have reached USD 2.022 billion globally. In India alone, it has grossed over Rs 500 crore, making it the highest-grossing Hollywood film in the country, surpassing Christopher Nolan's films, The Odyssey and Obsession, which earned over Rs 100 crore.
The plot centers around Holland's character as he confronts a formidable new adversary while dealing with a surprising physical transformation brought on by the challenges of his superhero lifestyle.
Brand New Day marks the 38th entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, produced by Kevin Feige and Amy Pascal.
The film also features Mark Ruffalo as Bruce (The Hulk), Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Michael Mando as Scorpion, rounding out an impressive ensemble.
