The beloved K-drama Goblin, also known as Guardian: The Lonely and Great God, is marking its 10th anniversary with an emotional reunion featuring its original cast members: Gong Yoo, Lee Dong-wook, Kim Go-eun, and Yoo In-na. Nearly a decade after captivating audiences worldwide, the show is set to return with a special program that celebrates this significant milestone. Fans are eagerly anticipating the upcoming variety show titled Goblin 10th Anniversary Trip, which is part of tvN's 20th-anniversary festivities. The cast recently traveled to Gangneung to revisit iconic filming locations cherished by K-drama enthusiasts.
Special Program Highlights
The teaser released on May 22 showcases the four actors reminiscing about their time in Gangneung. A particularly touching moment occurs when they return to the Jumunjin Breakwater, the site where Kim Go-eun's character Ji Eun-tak first summoned Gong Yoo's immortal goblin, Kim Shin. The teaser is accompanied by the unforgettable soundtrack, Beautiful, enhancing the nostalgic atmosphere.
In a delightful twist, Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na recreate scenes from their popular "Peach Couple" storyline, while Gong Yoo and Kim Go-eun revive the chemistry of the iconic Goblin couple. Kim Go-eun reflects on her return, expressing, "It's been 10 years since I came here, really," to which a surprised Lee Dong-wook responds, "Has it been 10 years already?" The reunion is filled with heartfelt moments as the cast revisits the playful dynamics that fans adored in the original series.
Before embarking on their trip, Gong Yoo encouraged everyone to enjoy the day, but later admitted, "It feels strange," as memories flooded back during filming. Yoo In-na expressed her emotions upon seeing the unchanged locations after a decade, stating, "Everything looks exactly the same as back then," and added, "I’ll never forget this moment."
About Goblin
Goblin, which aired in 2016, tells the story of Kim Shin, a 900-year-old immortal goblin portrayed by Gong Yoo, who seeks his destined bride to end his eternal life. He falls in love with Ji Eun-Tak, played by Kim Go-eun, a high school student who can see ghosts and is fated to pull the sword from his chest. Lee Dong-wook plays the Grim Reaper, who is meant to take Eun-Tak's soul but finds himself falling for Yoo In-na's character, a human.
On March 26, tvN announced the 10th anniversary celebration featuring the original cast, a nostalgic gesture for the show's dedicated fanbase. The Goblin 10th Anniversary Trip is set to premiere on July 4.
