Kathanar - The Sorcerer draws inspiration from the folklore of Kadamattathu Kathanar, a priest reputed for his supernatural abilities. The teaser suggests a novel interpretation of this character, presenting him in a captivating light. Jayasurya takes on the role of the titular priest, while details about Anushka Shetty’s character remain undisclosed. Notably, the film employs virtual production technology, marking a first in Indian cinema.
Directed by Rojin Thomas, known for Home, and co-written by Ramanand, the film has completed principal photography and is currently in post-production. This ambitious project has involved around 500 individuals over five years, with executive producer Krishnamoorthy and producer Gokulam Gopalan receiving accolades for their commitment. The technical team features cinematographer Neil D Cunha, composer Rahul Subrahmanian Unni, production designer Rajeevan, and action director Jungjin Park, with Rojin Thomas overseeing editing, VFX, and action design.
