Filmmaker Keerthiswaran has shared thrilling news with fans by hinting at a possible sequel to the 2025 film 'Dude', which featured Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju. During a recent event, he disclosed that he has proposed an idea for 'Dude 2' and is currently awaiting its development into a full sequel. Additionally, he mentioned his next directorial project, suggesting that it will require a prominent star. While he refrained from revealing the actor's name, speculation suggests that Silambarasan could be the lead.

Is 'Dude 2' on the Horizon?

Keerthiswaran confirmed that he has already discussed the sequel idea with Pradeep Ranganathan. He stated, “I have pitched an idea to Pradeep Ranganathan for 'Dude 2', which retains the essence of the original. If it materializes, it will serve as a sequel or an extension of the film.” Released in 2025, 'Dude' featured Pradeep Ranganathan and Mamitha Baiju as cousins Agan and Kural, who embark on an event-planning venture together. The film was a significant commercial hit, marking Pradeep's third consecutive film to gross over Rs 100 crore, following 'Love Today' and 'Dragon'.

However, the film was not without its controversies. Some audience members criticized certain scenes, including one where the female lead's actions were compared to those of an adult film star. Fans urged the director to address these concerns, but he reportedly responded in a 'rude' manner on social media.

New Film Featuring Silambarasan in the Works

At a Behindwoods event, Keerthiswaran revealed that he is in the process of crafting a script filled with commercial appeal and emotional depth. “I am currently developing a story that includes commercial elements, emotions, and much more. The script calls for a star, and I have someone specific in mind. We will announce details soon,” he shared. Although the director did not disclose the actor's name, recent reports indicate that Silambarasan may take on this role. The actor is currently filming 'Arasan' with Vetri Maaran and could potentially join Keerthiswaran's project right after completing his current commitments.

Initially, Mythri Movie Makers was expected to produce the film, but discussions are now reportedly taking place with Sithara Entertainments and AGS Entertainment. Pre-production is said to be progressing, with plans for the project to commence filming in August if everything aligns as intended.
