Ajith Kumar's Family Mourns the Loss of Matriarch Mohini Mani
Ajith Kumar's Mother Passes Away at 89
The family of Ajith Kumar is grieving the loss of their beloved matriarch, Mohini Mani, who peacefully passed away in her sleep at the age of 89 on May 30. The news of her passing was shared earlier today, prompting condolences from various figures, including the newly appointed Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Vijay, who was among the first to express his sympathies to Ajith and his family. At the time of her death, Ajith was in Dubai but quickly returned to Chennai, where he was seen arriving at the Chennai International Airport.
Ajith Returns to Chennai for Final Farewell
Upon his arrival in Chennai, several videos surfaced online showing Ajith at the airport with minimal luggage, quickly being escorted to a waiting vehicle. Earlier, his brother Anil Kumar had announced their mother's passing on social media, confirming that she had died peacefully after a period of declining health. Anil shared fond memories of their mother, particularly her journey to India post-Partition, stating, "We find solace in knowing she lived a long life and was among the fortunate ones."
The family expressed gratitude for the heartfelt messages and condolences they received. However, they have decided that Mohini Mani's last rites will be a private family event, scheduled for Sunday morning, May 31, in Chennai. She is survived by her three sons: Ajith, Anil, and Anup Kumar. Notably, Ajith has established a charitable organization named the Mohini Mani Foundation in her honor.
Chief Minister Vijay Pays His Respects
Following Ajith's return to Chennai, Chief Minister Vijay visited his home to offer his condolences to the grieving family. The two prominent figures in Tamil cinema previously collaborated in the 1995 film Rajavin Parvaiyile. Although Vijay has stepped back from acting, with his last film Jana Nayagan yet to be released, he made a personal effort to support Ajith during this difficult time. Accompanying him was actress Trisha Krishnan, who also paid her respects. The two shared a warm embrace, with Ajith reciprocating the gesture while Trisha wore a black outfit in mourning.
Numerous other notable personalities, including veteran actor Kamal Haasan and political leaders like MK Stalin, Edappadi K Palanisamy, and Seeman, took to social media to express their condolences to Ajith Kumar and his family. It is worth noting that Ajith's father, P. Subramaniam, passed away earlier this year at the age of 85.
