Sonu Nigam emphasized the importance of sounding authentic when performing songs in languages that are not familiar to the singer.

He noted that the guidance of a knowledgeable instructor is crucial; without it, even the most dedicated efforts can lead to incorrect pronunciations.

When asked about his experience singing in various languages, he reflected on the complexities involved and how they affect his performance.

Sonu shared that during his initial forays into South Indian music, he drew inspiration from the legendary S. P. Balasubrahmanyam to enhance his authenticity.

He elaborated, "There are multiple factors at play. A singer's ability to adopt a style is key. In my early days of singing in South Indian languages, I always kept S. P. Balasubrahmanyam in mind for guidance."

"Additionally, we must depend on our mentors. If they lack proficiency in the language, it can lead to mistakes in our singing. Thus, we must put in our own effort while also relying on our teachers," he added.

In other news, Sonu Nigam has recently embraced his roots with a new Haryanvi song titled 'Chunni', featuring vocals alongside Renuka Panwar.
