Shilpa Shetty Responds to Legal Allegations: A Strong Denial
Actress Shilpa Shetty Addresses Legal Controversy
Mumbai: Actress Shilpa Shetty has firmly rejected any attempts to associate her with the ongoing legal issues surrounding Best Deal TV, labeling the claims as unfounded, distressing, and legally invalid.
In her statement, Shilpa clarified that her involvement with the company was purely non-executive, asserting that she had no role in its operations, financial matters, decision-making, or signing authority.
She expressed her dismay over the baseless allegations, stating, “I am deeply saddened by the unfounded attempt to link my name to this matter. My role with the company was strictly non-executive, with no involvement in its operations, finances, or decision-making.”
The actress noted that, similar to many other public figures, she had endorsed products for the home shopping channel solely in a professional capacity.
Additionally, she revealed that her family had lent Rs. 20 Crore to the company, which remains unpaid.
“In fact, like many other public figures, I endorsed certain products for the home shopping channel in a professional capacity, and payments owed to me are still outstanding. I want to clarify that my family has loaned almost 20 Crore rupees to the company, and this amount is still unpaid,” she stated.
Shilpa criticized the attempt to assign her criminal liability as “mischievous,” asserting, “The attempt to impute criminal liability on me, especially after an unexplained delay of nearly nine years, is legally unsustainable and contrary to established legal principles.”
Highlighting the personal toll of such accusations, she emphasized that these unfounded claims not only distort the truth but also unjustly damage a woman's reputation in the public eye.
“Despite these facts, my name continues to be unnecessarily involved in the proceedings, which is both distressing and unjustified. Such baseless allegations misrepresent facts and lead to the unfair erosion of a woman’s dignity, integrity, and reputation in the public sphere,” she remarked.
Quoting the Bhagavad Gita, she stated, “As mentioned in the Bhagavad Gita, ‘Failing to oppose injustice when it is your duty is itself Adharma.’”
With a petition to quash already submitted to the Bombay High Court, she expressed her confidence in the judicial system, stating, “I have complete faith in the judicial process and will seek appropriate legal remedies to safeguard my rights and reputation. I kindly urge the media to acknowledge these facts and report responsibly by verifying the truth.”
