On Thursday, former Indian cricketer Shikhar Dhawan expressed his condolences for the passing of veteran actor Nana Patekar, referring to him as a "remarkable talent" whose legacy will inspire future generations.
Nana Patekar passed away at 5:20 AM on Thursday due to a cardiac arrest at his home. Dr. Shekhar Salkar, the Chief of Oncology at Manipal Hospital, confirmed that CPR was performed for 45 minutes, but Patekar remained in asystole throughout the procedure.
In a heartfelt post on X, Dhawan honored Patekar, stating, "Indian cinema has lost a truly special talent today. Nana Patekar saab, your work will continue to inspire generations. Om Shanti."
Nana Patekar's Distinguished Career
Nana Patekar was a celebrated figure in both Hindi and Marathi cinema. He began his acting journey with the 1978 film 'Gaman' and became renowned for his roles in iconic films such as 'Parinda,' 'Prahar,' 'Angaar,' 'Krantiveer,' 'Tiranga,' 'Khamoshi,' and 'Ab Tak Chhappan.'
Recent Works
In recent years, Patekar remained active in the film industry, featuring in 'Housefull 5' alongside stars like Akshay Kumar and Abhishek Bachchan. At the age of 75, he also portrayed a police officer in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'O'Romeo,' which starred Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri. Additionally, he made a cameo in 'Subedar,' featuring Anil Kapoor and Radhika Madan.
