More about Masoom (1983)

The original Masoom, which premiered in 1983, remains one of the most beloved family dramas in Indian cinema. Featuring Naseeruddin Shah and Shabana Azmi in leading roles, alongside child actors Urmila Matondkar and Jugal Hansraj, the film was directed by Shekhar Kapur. It delved into themes of guilt, family dynamics, forgiveness, and emotional turmoil.

Adapted from Erich Segal’s 1980 novel Man, Woman And Child, the narrative follows Devendra Kumar, whose family is disrupted by the arrival of his illegitimate son from a previous relationship.
