Mumbai: Actor Sharman Joshi has recently celebrated a significant milestone, marking 25 years in the entertainment industry.

In a candid statement shared with a news outlet, he reflected on his career journey and the key moments that have defined it. The Golmaal star discussed how he forged his own path despite not having a film industry background, reminiscing about his early theatre experiences that shaped his career. Sharman expressed, “It’s been nearly 25 years since my first major role. Coming from a theatre background, I initially considered three career paths: acting, law, or business, but ultimately chose to dive into acting.”

He recalled, “My debut was a small role in Godmother, and then I unexpectedly landed a part in Style. We were all newcomers, filled with excitement, and that energy was truly unforgettable. I still cherish that film, and it warms my heart that it remains memorable for many.”

The Xcuse Me actress also reflected on the passage of time, stating, “It’s hard to believe it’s been a quarter-century since I entered the film industry. Theatre has always been a vital part of my journey, and I continue to pursue it passionately. I recently completed 100 performances of Raju Raja Ram and am planning an English play for January. I hope to keep finding meaningful opportunities to entertain audiences through impactful cinema and theatre.”

Sharman also celebrated the 16th anniversary of his acclaimed film 3 Idiots, discussing its lasting impact and popularity among viewers even years after its release.

He noted, “Whenever I meet fans, they often mention 3 Idiots, but they also fondly recall Style, which brings me great joy. In fact, Rajkumar Hirani noticed me in Style, and when 3 Idiots came along, he mentioned he had always wanted to work with me, leading to that opportunity.”

As 3 Idiots marks 16 years, Sharman expressed deep gratitude. “Thinking about it always brings a smile to my face. The appreciation for my role as Raju Rastogi is something I hold dear, and I have many cherished memories from that film, especially the emotional interview scene.”

He concluded, “While making 3 Idiots, none of us anticipated it would become such a timeless classic that continues to resonate with audiences today. I am truly thankful to God for the kindness shown to me over these 25 years and for all the opportunities I have received.”
