Shah Rukh Khan's Upcoming Film 'King' Faces Schedule Changes Amid Tensions
Shah Rukh Khan Returns with 'King'
After a three-year hiatus since Dunki, Shah Rukh Khan is set to make a comeback with his new film, King. Directed by Siddharth Anand, this project has been in development for some time. Notably, it will also mark the debut of Suhana Khan, Shah Rukh's daughter, who previously appeared in Zoya Akhtar's Netflix film, The Archies. Recent reports indicate that the production team has decided to cancel the Dubai shooting schedule due to escalating tensions in West Asia. A significant action sequence featuring Suhana and Anil Kapoor was planned for this location.
Change of Plans for Action Sequence
According to a report from Mid-Day, the ongoing conflict in West Asia prompted Siddharth to rethink the international shooting plans for King and shift the location to Mumbai. The Dubai schedule had been arranged well in advance, with all necessary permissions secured for filming. Originally, the shoot was set to last a week starting April 9. However, the safety of the cast and crew took precedence, leading to the decision to scrap the Dubai plans. Instead, the action sequence is now expected to be filmed at a studio in Vile Parle, Mumbai, where the production team has recreated a desert environment to match Siddharth's vision. A source revealed, "They’ve gone all out to match the scale that Siddharth envisioned for the set-piece. In fact, this gives them more control over action beats and lighting. The sequence begins with a chase, resulting in an intense combat."
Insights on 'King'
The initial glimpses of King showcase Shah Rukh Khan in a fierce new look, sporting a salt-and-pepper style for this gangster drama. The film features an impressive cast, including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan, Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Jaideep Ahlawat, Akshaye Oberoi, and Abhay Verma.
