The veteran actress, recognized for her roles in Kumkum - Ek Pyara Sa Bandhan and Saath Nibhaana Saathiya, opened up about her health struggles and the financial difficulties that followed.

Industry Pressure to Conceal Health Issues

During a conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Shagufta revealed, "In those days, it was said that you shouldn't talk about such things. If you did, you might not get work. There was a fear that people in the industry would treat you differently, so I chose to remain silent."

Financial Struggles Amidst Health Challenges

Reflecting on her tough times, Shagufta disclosed that she had to sell her jewelry and car to cover her expenses. Despite her struggles, she mentioned that she still preferred taking auto-rickshaws for work and medical appointments. Addressing inquiries about her savings, she explained that while she had some saved up, it was quickly depleted due to medical bills and daily living costs. As the sole breadwinner of her family, she acknowledged that her savings were not substantial. She stated, "I'm not wealthy like the Ambanis or Tatas. My savings were bound to run out eventually. I'm just a television actor." Shagufta expressed her frustration over people questioning her financial choices, emphasizing that her expenditures were primarily for essential needs and medical care.
