Punjabi Sufi artist Satinder Sartaaj is currently making waves in the music industry with his track Jaiye Sajana from the film Dhurandhar: The Revenge. In the inaugural episode of Baatein Dil Se, hosted by Navika Kumar, Sartaaj shared insights into his creative journey, personal beliefs, and experiences within the music realm. He revealed that a full version of his popular song is already in the pipeline and shared heartwarming stories from his career. Here are five key takeaways from his engaging discussion.

1. Extended Version of ‘Jaiye Sajana’ is Ready

One of the most significant revelations was that Sartaaj has completed an extended version of Jaiye Sajana. He explained that the concept emerged during his initial discussion with composer Shashwat Sachdev. 'On that day, as we talked, he mentioned that this song was sung by Jasmine and had a particular line. He said if he had known I was such a passionate person, he would have had me create the entire song. I responded positively,' Sartaaj recounted. He then shared how he spontaneously began writing seven verses while traveling to Ludhiana, and he has since performed them live. He confirmed that the track is ready for release, stating, 'Our team received a call from T-Series, including Bhushan sir, asking me to dub all the vocals for the release.'

2. A Memorable Compliment from Shabana Azmi

Sartaaj also reflected on his collaboration with Shabana Azmi during the filming of The Black Prince, where he played Maharaja Duleep Singh. He recalled a poignant moment during a dinner scene where Azmi requested the cameraman to capture a close-up of his eyes, which he described as one of the most beautiful compliments he has received in his career. He continues to express gratitude to her whenever they cross paths.

3. Admiration for Ranveer Singh and Aditya Dhar

When discussing Ranveer Singh, Sartaaj praised the actor's commitment and discipline. 'He has become incredibly solid and honest about his work,' he noted, reflecting on the emotional and physical challenges actors face. He also expressed admiration for Aditya Dhar, the director of Dhurandhar 2, despite not having met him. 'From what I've seen, he seems very gentle and innocent, which contrasts with the intensity of his filmmaking,' Sartaaj remarked.

4. Connection with Yami Gautam’s Family

In a heartfelt moment, Sartaaj shared how Yami Gautam's father, Mukesh Gautam, played a pivotal role in his early career. 'My first television appearance was thanks to Yami's father,' he said, reminiscing about his initial performance where he sang Sufi poetry. He also mentioned receiving a warm message from Aditya Dhar after recording Jaiye Sajana, which brought back fond memories.

5. Shayari Over Music

In a thought-provoking statement, Sartaaj expressed his preference for shayari over music, stating, 'If I had to choose, I would pick shayari.' He emphasized the power of language, calling it humanity's greatest invention, even ranking it above electricity and contemporary technology. 'Language is a treasure that allows us to communicate,' he concluded.
