Sanju Samson's Viral Beach Encounter
Since his transfer from Rajasthan Royals to Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, Sanju Samson has become affectionately known as 'Chettan' or big brother in Chennai. Recently, a video surfaced that perfectly captures this sentiment. In the clip, Sanju is seen arriving at a beach in Chennai without any security or entourage, joining local players for a casual game of cricket.
Upon reaching the beach, Sanju seamlessly integrated with a group of youngsters playing cricket, shedding the typical celebrity demeanor. Interestingly, he began batting left-handed, and when he hit a six off a local bowler, the surrounding fans erupted in celebration.
He spent considerable time engaging with the local players and even encouraged the fans to chant the popular phrase 'Thatrom...Thookrom' before he departed. This delightful interaction has since gained traction across social media platforms.
In a recent episode of the 'Super Kings Podcast', Sanju expressed his gratitude for the affection he receives from Chennai fans, noting their support even during trade discussions. He recalled, "Wherever I went in Tamil Nadu, people would say, 'Sanju, come to CSK.' Now that I wear this yellow jersey, I feel a tremendous responsibility. I think carefully before making a shot because I don’t want to disappoint the fans."
Sanju's charm extends beyond his personality; he is also making waves with his performance this season. He currently leads the run charts for CSK, amassing 430 runs in 11 matches, which includes two centuries and one half-century.
