Samay Raina's Stand-Up Special Breaks Records: What Makes 'Still Alive' a Must-Watch?
Samay Raina's Record-Breaking Comedy Special
New Delhi: Comedian Samay Raina's debut stand-up special, titled 'Still Alive,' has achieved an impressive milestone by amassing over 53.4 million views, making it the most-viewed full-length stand-up comedy special globally on a single upload, according to recent reports.
Released on April 7 via YouTube, the special attracted 22 million views within just the first 24 hours. This performance marked Raina's comeback to the comedy scene following the controversy surrounding his appearance on 'India's Got Latent' with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia.
In a statement, Raina expressed, "'Still Alive' is the most genuine work I have ever created. I am grateful for every view from those who have consistently supported me."
Last year, Raina faced backlash after controversial comments made by Allahbadia on his now-removed web show sparked significant outrage, leading to multiple police complaints against both individuals involved.
During the special, Raina addressed the repercussions of Allahbadia's joke, the ensuing FIRs, and the public and political backlash that forced him to remove all episodes of his popular show from YouTube.
Additionally, Raina shared personal stories about overcoming childhood bullying, embracing his Kashmiri Pandit heritage, navigating mental health challenges, and fostering a connection with his audience.
The 28-year-old comedian also revealed plans for a second season of the controversial show during the special.
