In a conversation with Zoom, Riteish elaborated on the cameos featured in his film, emphasizing the camaraderie within the industry. He noted that many actors willingly support each other, often participating in various projects. However, the commitment required for Raja Shivaji was notably higher, as it involved a deeper engagement with the historical narrative. He explained that the actors' roles demanded more than just brief appearances; they needed to embody a significant presence and motivation.


"Even if it is Salman Bhau who comes in the climax, he is playing a character - it’s not just Salman Khan. He is a historical figure, Jiva Mahale, who played an important part at that point in time," Riteish remarked.

Riteish recounted a conversation with Salman on New Year’s Eve, where Salman inquired about the film's shooting schedule. When Riteish mentioned that filming would commence the following month, Salman immediately expressed his desire to be part of the project, stating, "You can’t make a film without me. I was there in your last film, I was there in your first film - now I have to be in this one too, whatever it takes." Riteish expressed his gratitude for Salman's support, referring to him as an "elder brother." It took Riteish about a month to finalize the role, ensuring that Salman's involvement would enhance the film's appeal.


Historically, Jiva Mahale is recognized as the warrior who saved Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during a critical moment. Riteish had always envisioned this sequence as part of the climax, and he felt that Salman's casting could elevate the impact, provided it was executed thoughtfully. He discussed the concept with Salman while working on another film, and Salman readily agreed to take on the role. Raja Shivaji, which also features Abhishek Bachchan, Vidya Balan, Sanjay Dutt, Fardeen Khan, Genelia Deshmukh, and others, is currently showing in theaters.
