Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi Faces Delays Amid Galwan Battle Film Setbacks

Salman Khan's film Maatrubhumi, originally set for an April release, has faced delays, with speculation about a new August date. Meanwhile, Himalay Dassani's project, The Lion of Galwan, based on a soldier's story from the 2020 clash, has been indefinitely postponed due to the need for Ministry of Defence clearance. As both films navigate these challenges, fans are eager for updates on their releases and storylines.

Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi and Its Journey

Salman Khan's upcoming film Maatrubhumi was initially scheduled for a theatrical release in April this year. Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the movie was previously known as Battle of Galwan and is inspired by the 2020 clash between Indian and Chinese forces in Galwan Valley. Recent reports indicate that the film has undergone reshoots. In the meantime, another project related to the Galwan conflict has encountered significant delays.

Himalay Dassani, husband of Maine Pyar Kiya actress Bhagyashree, had plans to create The Lion of Galwan featuring their son, Abhimanyu Dassani. However, he has now opted to place the project on hold.

The Lion of Galwan Postponed Indefinitely

Himalay Dassani's film The Lion of Galwan tells the story of Sepoy Gurtej Singh, a Vir Chakra awardee who lost his life during the 2020 Galwan Valley clash. In a conversation with Mid-Day, Dassani revealed that the film is now indefinitely postponed. He mentioned that if he decides to proceed with the film, he must adhere to specific protocols.

Given the current state of India-China relations, Himalay expressed the need to reassess the narrative. Once the script is finalized, it will need to be submitted to the Indian Ministry of Defence before filming can commence. He noted, "We have received instructions that there should be no negative portrayal of China, so we need to reconsider that aspect," he explained.

Dassani emphasized that without clearance from the Defence Ministry, telling the story of the Galwan battle would be futile, as it would not accurately reflect the circumstances surrounding the conflict. He concluded, "Thus, we have decided to keep it on the backburner."

Updates on Salman Khan's Maatrubhumi

Speculation suggests that the film may now debut in August, pending an official announcement. Meanwhile, Salman Khan is also set to appear in SVC63, directed by Vamshi Paidipally, which is scheduled for an Eid 2027 release.
