The event featured the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the historic cricket pavilion, celebrating Pataudi's legacy and his connection to the institution. The Warden of Winchester College praised Pataudi as a cricketing legend, emphasizing the strong ties between the UK and India. A Special Commemoration for Tiger Pataudi

Recently, a heartfelt event took place at Winchester College to honor the late Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, affectionately known as Tiger Pataudi, father of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan. The Kartavya actor, who is an alumnus of this prestigious institution, participated in the unveiling of a memorial plaque at the college's historic cricket pavilion, known as Hunter Tent. This ceremony was part of Wykeham Day, an annual summer celebration at Winchester College that brings together students, staff, families, and alumni to celebrate over 600 years of rich traditions in sports, culture, and community. The event served as a touching tribute to Tiger Pataudi’s enduring legacy and his deep ties to the college.



Saif Ali Khan Reflects on His Father's Legacy


During the event, Saif Ali Khan reminisced about his father's early cricketing days at Winchester and expressed gratitude to the college for honoring his memory. As a former student, he felt privileged to return and pay homage to his father, highlighting the significant role the college played in shaping his father's cricketing journey. Saif shared that his father often cherished the friendships, values, and experiences he gained during his time there. He stated, "Our family is incredibly proud and grateful that Winchester College has chosen to honor him in this way. We hope this plaque inspires future generations of students, just as Winchester inspired him."



Sir Richard Stagg, the Warden of Winchester College, acknowledged Tiger Pataudi as one of cricket's most revered figures and a source of pride for the institution. He noted that Pataudi was a cricketing prodigy at the school, having broken a long-standing record for runs in a season that was previously held by Douglas Jardine since 1919. Stagg emphasized that Pataudi's journey to becoming a prominent cricketer and an influential figure in Indian cricket is a testament to the strong ties between the UK and India, as well as their shared passion for the sport.



Upcoming Projects for Saif Ali Khan


On the professional front, Saif Ali Khan was last seen in the Netflix film Kartavya. He is set to appear next in Haiwaan, which also stars Akshay Kumar and is directed by the acclaimed Priyadarshan, known for his classic comedies like Hera Pheri and Garam Masala. Additionally, Saif will feature in Netflix's upcoming release Hum Hindustani, expected later this year.
