Sadie Sink Takes on a New Role in FX's 'The Marriage Plot' Adaptation
Sadie Sink's Exciting New Project
Sadie Sink, famed for her performance in the popular series 'Stranger Things', is embarking on a fresh venture in the television realm. She will not only star in but also serve as an executive producer for a limited series adaptation of Jeffrey Eugenides' celebrated novel 'The Marriage Plot' for FX. This new role signifies a shift from her previous supernatural characters, exploring the intricate themes of love and identity among young adults.
As reported by a leading entertainment outlet, the adaptation will be penned by Will Arbery, with Hiro Murai, known for his direction in 'Atlanta' and 'Widow's Bay', at the helm. The series is described as a story revolving around three recent college graduates caught in a love triangle, as they navigate their romantic dreams amidst the challenges of adulthood and the pivotal decisions that define their futures.
The novel, which debuted in 2011, garnered widespread acclaim and was included in various best-of lists that year. Gina Balian, president of FX Entertainment, expressed her excitement for the project, emphasizing its potential for "ambitious, character-driven storytelling." She noted that the series aligns seamlessly with FX's mission to collaborate with outstanding artists, stating, "We are eager to continue our partnerships with Will and Hiro, both of whom are remarkable talents we are proud to work with again."
Alongside Sink, the executive production team features Arbery and Murai, along with Steven Prinz and Rachel Jacobs from Borderless Pictures. Michael Costigan and Jason Bateman from Aggregate Films, as well as Eugenides, Sink, and Carver Karaszewski and Claudia Shin from Chum Films, will also play significant roles in the project. Yigi Huang is set to produce the series, further enhancing the strong production team.
Looking ahead, Sink is also expected to star in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day', which is slated for release on July 31. As she transitions from the supernatural world of 'Stranger Things' to the more realistic narrative of 'The Marriage Plot', fans are keenly awaiting her career evolution and the depth she will bring to this new character.
