Rohit Shetty Faces Legal Issues Amid Security Concerns While Filming Golmaal 5
Rohit Shetty Begins Filming Golmaal 5 Under Heavy Security
Director and producer Rohit Shetty has commenced shooting for Golmaal 5 in Mumbai, featuring stars like Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar, amidst heightened security measures. This follows a death threat he received from the gang of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi earlier this year. Shetty has reached out to Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti, requesting increased protection for himself and the film's cast and crew. However, recent reports indicate that his request for enhanced security has not been approved. In response, Shetty has reportedly affixed 'Police' labels on his personal vehicles and installed police-style lights without the required authorization.
Legal Troubles for Rohit Shetty
Why Rohit Shetty Lands in Legal Trouble?
According to a report from Mid-Day, Shetty has modified at least two of his private SUVs to display police insignia. This action violates Section 177 of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988, which prohibits anyone other than law enforcement personnel from using such markings. A senior traffic officer confirmed that only authorized officers are permitted to use 'Police' stickers and lights. It has been verified that these vehicles are registered under Shetty's name. A senior RTO official stated, “The Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, as amended in 2019, does not permit the use of a ‘Police’ sticker, logo, or board on private vehicles, as outlined in Section 177.”
Attack on Rohit Shetty's Residence
Rohit Shetty House Attack
On January 31, Rohit Shetty's apartment in Juhu was targeted by unidentified gunmen. Members of Lawrence Bishnoi's gang claimed responsibility for this attack. Following the incident, police sealed off Shetty's residence and increased security measures. The Bishnoi gang, notorious for threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan over his alleged involvement in the Black Buck Poaching case during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan, took credit for the assault on Shetty's building. In a Facebook post that went viral, gang members Shubham Lonkar, Arju Bishnoi, and Hari Boxer Hasan Sambhu warned Shetty against interfering in their operations. They stated that after he failed to heed their warning, they felt compelled to deliver a 'small trailer' of their intentions. They further threatened that if he continued to disregard their message, the next attack would occur inside his home rather than outside. As of now, Rohit and his legal team have not publicly addressed the use of 'Police' stickers and lights on his vehicles.
