Remembering Nana Patekar: A Tribute to the Iconic Actor's Legacy
A Heartfelt Farewell to a Cinematic Legend
The Indian film community is in deep sorrow following the death of renowned actor Nana Patekar, who passed away at the age of 75. He died on Thursday morning at his home in Goa due to a sudden cardiac arrest. Medical personnel at Goa Medical College and Hospital performed a postmortem to ascertain the exact details of his demise.
A senior physician at the hospital revealed that the autopsy confirmed the cause of death as acute myocardial infarction, which was caused by thrombosis in the left main coronary artery, a condition stemming from atherosclerotic occlusive coronary artery disease. Essentially, a blood clot blocked a crucial artery that supplies blood to the heart, resulting in a heart attack that could not be reversed despite extensive emergency efforts.
Emergency Response and Final Farewell
Reports indicate that Patekar's caretaker quickly called for medical help after he fell ill, leading to an ambulance being dispatched from a nearby private hospital. Medical teams attempted to revive him through CPR for about 45 minutes, but he was pronounced dead at 5:10 a.m. After the postmortem, his son Malhar traveled to Goa to bring his father's body back to Pune. The actor was cremated at his farmhouse in Donjer village with full state honors, attended by various political figures and notable members of the film industry, including Jackie Shroff and Makarand Anaspure.
