Ranveer Singh's Year: From Success to Controversy
A Year of Highs and Lows for Ranveer Singh
Ranveer Singh has had a remarkable year, marked by significant achievements and unexpected challenges. Following the massive success of Dhurandhar in December 2025, he made a comeback to cinemas with the sequel in March. Just as fans were absorbing the film's impact, he and Deepika Padukone revealed they are expecting their second child this year. However, amidst these joyful announcements, Singh found himself in a dispute with the producers of Don 3. Reports indicate that he withdrew from the project shortly before filming began, allegedly due to creative disagreements with Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani.
Understanding the Don 3 Situation
Various sources suggest that Singh's exit from the Excel Entertainment film came after the success of Dhurandhar, as he chose to focus on Pralay. Although Pralay has yet to start production, the producers of Don 3 have sought assistance from the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) to claim compensation from Singh, reportedly amounting to Rs 45 crore. Additionally, FWICE has issued a non-cooperation directive against the actor.
Impact of FWICE's Directive on Pralay
Despite the ongoing uncertainty surrounding Don 3, a source close to Pralay has assured that the FWICE's directive will not hinder the film's progress. The source confirmed that production is set to commence in August, indicating that Pralay is on track.
What to Expect from Pralay
Reports suggest that Pralay will center on the protagonist's struggle for survival, utilizing a zombie narrative to delve into themes of social, emotional, and moral decay. The film is expected to present a reimagined version of Mumbai, reminiscent of the setup in The Hunger Games. Anticipated for release in the latter half of 2027, Pralay is generating considerable buzz.
Kalyani Priyadarshan's Bollywood Debut?
There are indications that Kalyani Priyadarshan will star opposite Ranveer in Pralay. On January 3, she shared an Instagram Story featuring a book titled Blindness by José Saramago, which she received from Jai, the film's director. The book's synopsis describes a city afflicted by an epidemic of 'white blindness,' where the victims are isolated in a mental hospital, guided by a lone witness through a desolate urban environment. Pralay is rumored to be an adaptation of this novel, although the full cast has yet to be officially announced.
