Ranveer Singh Takes Legal Action Over Controversial Remarks at Filmfare Awards

Ranveer Singh has initiated legal proceedings in the Karnataka High Court to contest an FIR filed against him for allegedly insulting a deity during a performance at the Filmfare Awards. The controversy erupted after the actor's remarks about the film Kantara, where he is accused of mimicking a Daiva and referring to it as a 'devil'. Following a complaint, police issued notices to Singh, and with no response, they are now moving forward with legal actions. Ranveer Singh Challenges FIR in Karnataka High Court


Bengaluru: Renowned Hindi film star Ranveer Singh has approached the Karnataka High Court to contest an FIR and seek the dismissal of a criminal case filed against him. This legal action stems from allegations of disrespecting a 'deity' during a mimicry performance related to the film Kantara Chapter-1.


The issue arose from comments made by Singh at the Filmfare Awards held in Goa, where he reportedly imitated a Daiva and referred to it as a 'devil'.


An FIR was filed at the High Grounds police station following a complaint from advocate Prashanth.


Previously, the police had issued notices to Singh regarding the matter.


Due to a lack of response from the actor, the High Grounds police have recently begun taking steps for further legal proceedings, according to police sources.
