Rajkummar Rao Begins Filming Sourav Ganguly Biopic in Kolkata

Rajkummar Rao has commenced filming for the biopic of Sourav Ganguly in Kolkata, capturing the cricket legend's journey from his childhood in Behala to his rise in professional cricket. The production team is recreating significant locations from Ganguly's life, including his home and the historic East Bengal Club. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane, the film will also explore the love story between Sourav and his wife, Dona. With a focus on authenticity, local actors are cast in key roles, ensuring a genuine Bengali atmosphere. This biopic promises to be a captivating portrayal of one of cricket's most beloved figures.
 

Shooting Commences for Sourav Ganguly's Biopic


Rajkummar Rao is currently engaged in the production of a biopic centered around the life of former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly. After completing the Mumbai segment, the crew has shifted their focus to Kolkata, where several images of Rao filming at Eden Gardens have emerged, showcasing his dedication and concentration during the shoot.



**Exploring Ganguly's Early Life and Cricket Career**


The filming in Kolkata will take place at various sites significant to Sourav Ganguly's life and cricket career. The initial phase focuses on his childhood, detailing his rise from the streets of Behala to a professional cricket player. The shoot began at Ganguly's home in Behala.


On Wednesday, the historic East Bengal Club in Kolkata was alive with activity as the crew recreated the time when Sourav played for the Aryan Club.


With elaborate sets constructed under strict security, Rajkummar Rao was seen portraying 'Dada' in a red tracksuit. Additional filming occurred at Eden Gardens, and Ganguly's residence in Behala is also a key location in the shooting schedule. The former cricketer was present at both his home and Eden Gardens during some filming segments.

The film, titled *Dada: The Sourav Ganguly Story*, is helmed by Vikramaditya Motwane, featuring Rajkummar Rao as Sourav Ganguly. Tanya Maniktala will play the role of Dona Ganguly, Sourav's wife, and the film will also highlight their love story.



To create an authentic Bengali ambiance, several local actors have been cast in important roles. Aparajita Auddy will portray Sourav's mother, Nirupa Ganguly, while Saswata Chatterjee takes on the role of his father, Chandi Ganguly.
