Rajinikanth's much-anticipated film, now titled Dharman, was officially launched at a spectacular event in Chennai. The project is backed by Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International and directed by Ashwath Marimuthu. During the launch, Rajinikanth candidly addressed the frequent criticism he faces regarding his public statements and actions. After the event, he engaged with journalists who inquired whether he had wished Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay on his birthday. The superstar clarified the situation, dispelling any rumors about his relationship with the TVK leader.

In response to questions about why he did not publicly wish CM Vijay a happy birthday, Rajinikanth explained that he had already conveyed his wishes privately. Fans quickly took to social media to praise the actor for his clarification, which has since become a trending topic. This isn't the first time speculation about a rift with Vijay has surfaced.



Previously, during a press conference at his residence in Chennai’s Poes Garden, Rajinikanth dismissed claims of jealousy regarding Vijay's political success, humorously stating, “Why would I be jealous of Vijay? Maybe if Kamal Haasan became the CM, I might get jealous.” He confirmed that he congratulated Vijay as soon as the election results showed his party's victory, expressing surprise at the TVK leader's success in his first electoral attempt.

Dharman, formerly known as Thalaivar 173, represents Rajinikanth’s collaboration with director Ashwath Marimuthu and producer Kamal Haasan. The film features Rajinikanth in a captivating 'deadly doctor' role, with Simran and Raashi Khanna also in the cast. Rajinikanth shared that the film underwent several creative transformations before reaching its final form, humorously noting, “We didn’t have three directors; we had four.”



He revealed that filmmaker KS Ravikumar was initially involved, but that version did not progress. Sundar C later joined the project but had to leave due to other commitments, leading to Cibi Chakravarthy developing another iteration before the current team took over. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with cinematography by Niketh Bommi.
