Raja Shivaji Set for Release

Riteish Deshmukh's highly anticipated film, Raja Shivaji, is just around the corner from its premiere. This grand historical narrative chronicles the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and is being touted as the most lavish Marathi film to date. However, an intriguing detail has emerged ahead of its debut. The Hindi and Marathi versions of the film will reportedly differ in runtime. Here’s what you need to know.

Hindi Version Shorter Than Marathi

Raja Shivaji Hindi Version To Be Shorter

Scheduled for release on May 1, Raja Shivaji will be available in both Marathi and Hindi. Typically, films released in multiple languages share the same runtime, differing only in language. However, Raja Shivaji will break this norm. The Marathi version received its censor certification on April 24, clocking in at 195.05 minutes, which translates to 3 hours, 15 minutes, and 5 seconds. In contrast, the Hindi version is 8 minutes shorter, offering a more concise viewing experience for Hindi audiences.

The Hindi adaptation was certified by the CBFC on April 28 with a U/A 16+ rating. Both versions are now approved and set for their grand release on Maharashtra Day.

According to reports, Riteish Deshmukh is opting for a more streamlined approach for the Hindi audience. Given that the Marathi audience may have a stronger connection to the film, the actor-director chose to extend the runtime for the local version. This difference is also evident in the trailers, with the Marathi trailer running for 3 minutes and 5 seconds, while the Hindi version is slightly shorter at 2 minutes and 59 seconds.
