Raj Nidimoru is not keen on remaking Stree, Maa Inti Bangaaram

In his conversation, Raj mentioned that the narrative of Maa Inti Bangaaram was specifically crafted for a particular audience, aiming to resonate with Telugu viewers. He believes that the character of Swarna would not translate well into the Hindi context. Furthermore, he shared that following the success of Stree, he received offers to adapt it into various languages, but he declined those opportunities. “The film was performing exceptionally well, and I preferred it to remain as it was rather than being remade,” Raj stated.

The Inspiration Behind Stree

Is Stree based on real story?

Stree (2018), co-written by Raj and his collaborator DK Krishna, draws inspiration from a well-known folk tale from Karnataka called Naale Baa, which translates to 'Come Tomorrow.' This phrase was historically inscribed on doors and walls to ward off spirits.

Plot Overview of Stree

What is Stree's story?

The film narrates the tale of Vicky, a young man residing in the serene town of Chanderi. During the annual festival, locals believe that a female spirit targets men, stripping them of their clothes before abducting them. Each household displays the phrase ‘O Stree Kal Aana’ in red ink. Amidst this chaos, Vicky encounters a mysterious woman and falls for her, unaware of her true identity. When his friend Jana is taken by ‘Stree’, Vicky realizes he must become the town's hero. He learns that cutting off Stree’s braid is the key to breaking her curse. However, the enigma of the woman continues into the sequel, Stree 3, which is anticipated to unveil her true identity, known only to Vicky.
