Kundra was apprehended by the Mumbai Crime Branch on July 19, 2021, in relation to an alleged pornography racket. Authorities labeled him a "key conspirator" in the production and distribution of adult content via paid mobile applications. Investigators revealed that the videos were filmed in India and uploaded through foreign-linked platforms to circumvent local regulations. The case involves charges under the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act. The police also indicated that multiple individuals were involved in the shooting, management, and monetization of the content.
Kundra has consistently denied the allegations, asserting that the content in question was erotic rather than pornographic. After spending nearly two months in judicial custody, he was released on bail in September 2021. The legal proceedings are ongoing, and he is currently seeking resolution in this protracted legal matter. The court has yet to deliver its verdict. In a separate issue, both Raj and Shilpa are facing accusations of financial fraud, with a Mumbai businessman alleging they defrauded him of Rs 60 crore. The couple's legal representative has firmly rejected these claims, labeling them as unfounded and malicious.
