Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Upcoming UK Visit: What to Expect!
A Royal Return to the UK
Next month, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry will make their first return to the United Kingdom since they stepped back from their royal roles in 2020. Initially, there were concerns regarding security clearance for Markle and their children, leading to speculation that only Prince Harry would travel. However, it has now been confirmed that the couple will have security arrangements during their stay.
In a noteworthy gesture, King Charles has invited the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to stay at a royal residence while in the UK. Although it was uncertain if they would accept, sources have confirmed that they will be residing at both a royal estate and their private home during the visit. Their children, Princess Lilibet and Prince Archie, who currently live in the United States, will also accompany them.
This trip coincides with discussions about potential reconciliation with the royal family. The Sussexes are expected to participate in events leading up to the Invictus Games, which will be held in Birmingham next July. This visit also presents an opportunity for King Charles to meet his grandchildren for the first time since the family's last public appearance in 2022.
During their time in the UK, Prince Harry intends to honor his late mother, Princess Diana, by visiting her grave at Althorp House in Northamptonshire. This visit holds significant emotional weight for the Duke, who has expressed a desire to reconnect with his family and heritage. In a past interview, he shared his feelings about reconciliation, stating, “I can’t see a world in which I would be bringing my wife and children back to the UK at this point, and the things they're going to miss are, well, everything.”
Since stepping back from royal duties, the issue of Prince Harry's security has been a contentious topic. After their departure, both he and his family experienced reduced security measures, prompting Harry to engage in legal proceedings to ensure adequate protection during visits to the UK. Previously, the couple lived in Frogmore Cottage, a gift from Queen Elizabeth II, but they were evicted following the release of Harry's memoir, "Spare." Currently, the Duke and Duchess do not have a permanent residence in the UK.
