Pixar's Hoppers: A Box Office Hit on the Verge of Breaking Records!

Pixar's animated film Hoppers has made a significant impact at the box office, becoming the third-highest-grossing title of 2026. With a domestic earning of $164.3 million and a worldwide total of $370.3 million, it is on the verge of surpassing Kung Fu Panda 2's North American earnings. Directed by Daniel Chong, the film follows Mabel, who uses technology to communicate with wildlife. As competition heats up with other films, Hoppers' future in the rankings remains uncertain, but it is expected to continue its success in theaters and digital platforms.

Hoppers Shines in Theaters

After an impressive 53-day run in theaters, Pixar's animated feature, Hoppers, has secured its position as the third-highest-grossing film of 2026 in the domestic market, as reported by Box Office Mojo. It trails behind The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which has amassed $386.9 million, and Project Hail Mary, which stands at $306.1 million. However, with Antoine Fuqua's musical drama Michael gaining traction, the longevity of Hoppers in this ranking remains uncertain.

On April 27, the film, directed by Daniel Chong, added another $0.1 million from North American theaters, solidifying its place among the top ten on the daily domestic box office chart. Currently, Hoppers has grossed $164.3 million domestically, and when combined with its international earnings of $206 million, the global total reaches $370.3 million. Given its production budget of $150 million, the film needs to earn an additional $4.7 million worldwide to hit its estimated break-even point of $375 million, based on the 2.5x multiplier rule.

As Hoppers continues its theatrical journey, it is now less than $1 million away from surpassing the domestic earnings of the beloved animated film, Kung Fu Panda 2. While Kung Fu Panda 2 has a higher worldwide total, the competition in the domestic box office is quite tight. Hoppers needs to earn around $0.9 million to exceed Kung Fu Panda 2's North American earnings.

Despite being available on digital platforms in the U.S., Hoppers is projected to close this $0.9 million gap, even if it experiences a 50% drop from last week's $2.8 million collection. The film is expected to potentially outpace Kung Fu Panda 2 in North America, with a clearer outcome anticipated in the upcoming weeks.

Directed by Daniel Chong, Hoppers tells the story of Mabel, an animal enthusiast who uses innovative technology to transfer human consciousness into lifelike robotic animals. After she hops into a robotic beaver to communicate with wildlife, she discovers a threat to their forest habitat and must help the animals protect their home.
