The Pingyao International Film Festival has revealed its jury leadership for the upcoming 10th edition, set to occur from September 24 to 30 in the historic Pingyao city, located in Shanxi Province. Esteemed Hong Kong director Ann Hui and veteran Italian programmer Carlo Chatrian have been appointed to oversee the festival's two main award categories.

Ann Hui will take on the role of jury president for the Fei Mu Awards, while Carlo Chatrian will lead the jury for the Roberto Rossellini Awards. Although these key appointments have been confirmed, the festival organizers will announce the remaining jury members at a later date.

Ann Hui, a pivotal figure in the Hong Kong New Wave, brings a wealth of experience to her role. Her impressive filmography includes significant works such as the Vietnam Trilogy—featuring The Boy from Vietnam, The Story of Woo Viet, and Boat People—as well as acclaimed films like A Simple Life and Our Time Will Come. Throughout her illustrious career, she has garnered numerous awards, including six Best Director titles at the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the 2020 Venice Film Festival.

Carlo Chatrian, currently the director of the National Museum of Cinema in Turin, adds a rich background of international festival experience to the Pingyao event. His previous roles include serving as the artistic director for both the Locarno Film Festival and the Berlin International Film Festival. Additionally, he has been a jury member for major global events such as the Sundance, Toronto, and Tokyo film festivals.
