Pawan Kalyan, the Deputy Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and a prominent actor, has expressed his admiration for the film Dhurandhar, a spy action thriller featuring Ranveer Singh. In a recent podcast, he described the film as bold and innovative in its narrative style, highlighting his appreciation for its daring approach. Kalyan also mentioned another upcoming film, Baramulla, set to release in 2025, which he found impressive.
During the discussion, Kalyan revealed that he enjoys horror films, stating that they help him relax and calm his mind. He also addressed the ongoing discourse regarding the differences between Hindi and South Indian cinema, emphasizing that he believes in valuing good storytelling regardless of the language or region.
Insights on Dhurandhar and Baramulla
Kalyan shared his thoughts on Dhurandhar, saying, "I appreciate the boldness in Dhurandhar. I didn't manage to see the second part due to financial constraints, but I liked the direction taken in the first part." The film, directed by Aditya Dhar, boasts a stellar cast including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Akshaye Khanna, and Sanjay Dutt.
In addition to Dhurandhar, Kalyan praised the supernatural horror thriller Baramulla, directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, which features actors Manav Kaul and Bhasha Sumbli. He noted that the film's storyline left a significant impact on him.
Memories of Kashmir and Love for Horror Films
Pawan Kalyan reminisced about his summers spent in Kashmir between 1987 and 1989, when Telugu films were being shot in the area. He recalled assisting with logistics during that time, noting the tension and hostility that sometimes arose on set.
Interestingly, Kalyan revealed that horror films are among his favorite genres. He explained, "I enjoy horror films because they captivate me and prevent my mind from wandering. When I struggle to sleep, watching a horror film helps to calm my thoughts." His latest appearance was in the film Ustaad Bhagat Singh, which received a mixed response at the box office.
