Mumbai, Sep 11: Actress Pallavi Sharda, known for her role alongside Ranbir Kapoor in the 2013 film “Besharam,” is set to appear in a new French-Indian romantic film titled 'Stay'. She described the filmmaking process as a captivating journey, referring to cinema as a “weird world” that envelops actors in “vortexes of creation” even outside of filming.
On her Instagram, Pallavi announced the news, revealing that she will portray Sailee, a recently divorced woman in India poised to inherit her father's thriving business.
During a visit to Paris, Sailee encounters Leo, a delivery driver with aspirations of becoming an actor.
Their romance faces challenges from familial expectations, social class disparities, and the contrasting economic and cultural landscapes of France and India.
In her post, Pallavi expressed her excitement about collaborating with filmmaker Rohena Gera on this project.
“You create a film, and then you market it. But at the heart of every film lies an idea, a feeling, a vibration. We act as doulas to bring that to life,” she shared.
“I felt a sense of disbelief every time I had the opportunity to connect with Rohena leading up to this film, exploring our emotions and the narratives that shape our experiences as women navigating different cultures,” she added.
“Films are a strange realm. They draw you into creative vortexes, which remain vibrant even when the cameras stop rolling,” she noted.
Pallavi emphasized that each film journey takes actors on an introspective path, making the intervals between projects crucial for reflection and assimilation of the experiences.
“The breaks between shoots can evoke feelings of emptiness and longing, but they also allow for synthesis… Each film acts as a portal that delves deep into one’s self, necessitating pauses for integration. I’m still processing this one,” she concluded.
'Besharam,' directed by Abhinav Kashyap, featured Ranbir Kapoor, Rishi Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, and Javed Jaffrey. The story follows Babli, a petty thief who steals cars for a noble cause, whose life changes when he falls in love with Tara and decides to change his ways.
