Palaash Muchhal Faces Legal Challenges Amidst Serious Allegations
Palaash Muchhal's Legal Setback
Singer and composer Palaash Muchhal has encountered a significant legal hurdle as a sessions court in Sangli has denied his request for anticipatory bail. This legal action is linked to a case filed against him under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act by actor and producer Vidnyan Mane, who has made several allegations against Muchhal over recent months. Although the court has turned down the bail plea, Muchhal's legal representatives have stated their intention to appeal this decision in a higher court.
Palaash Muchhal's Ongoing Legal Issues
As per the court records obtained, the Sangli sessions court dismissed Muchhal's anticipatory bail request on July 10, related to the accusations made by Vidnyan Mane under the SC/ST Act. While Muchhal was not available for comments, his attorney, Abhijit Desai, confirmed the ruling and mentioned plans to contest it. "The news is accurate, and we are preparing to challenge the ruling," Desai informed the media.
The allegations stem from an incident reported to have occurred on November 22 at a toll plaza on the Sangli-Ashta road, where Mane claims Muchhal made derogatory remarks based on caste during a dispute. Following this complaint, law enforcement initiated a case against Muchhal under Section 3(1) of the SC/ST Act, along with Sections 351(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. The SC/ST Act enforces strict legal protections against caste-based offenses and imposes rigorous conditions for anticipatory bail in such matters.
Details of Vidnyan Mane's Claims Against Palaash Muchhal
In January 2026, Vidnyan Mane accused Muchhal of defrauding him of over Rs 40 lakh. Mane alleged that he had invested this amount in Muchhal's film projects after being introduced to him by the father of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana. He claimed that despite his investment, he did not receive the expected financial returns or the acting roles that were promised.
In addition to the financial claims, Mane has made personal allegations regarding Muchhal's previous relationship with Smriti Mandhana, who is a childhood friend of Mane. Muchhal and Mandhana were engaged and had plans to marry in Sangli in November 2025, but the wedding was ultimately called off, and they later announced their separation on social media.
Muchhal has consistently refuted all allegations against him. Earlier this year, he initiated legal proceedings against Mane, issuing a defamation notice worth Rs 10 crore through his lawyer, Shreyansh Mithare. In a statement on social media, Muchhal asserted that the claims were baseless, defamatory, and aimed at tarnishing his reputation.
