Owen Cooper's Historic Win

At the BAFTA TV Awards 2026, young star Owen Cooper made headlines by winning the Supporting Actor award. The 16-year-old has also claimed prestigious accolades including the Emmy, Golden Globe, Critics' Choice Actor Award, Gotham Award, and Independent Spirit Award for his portrayal of Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy caught in a tragic event with a classmate. The ceremony, held on May 10 in London, celebrated Cooper's series Adolescence and the comedy Amandaland, both of which were major winners. Earlier, the Netflix limited series had secured two awards at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards.

Cooper's on-screen parents, played by Stephen Graham and Christine Tremarco, were also acknowledged for their performances. The event, hosted by Greg Davies, attracted notable figures such as Severance actor Adam Scott, The Studio's Seth Rogen, and The Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr. A highlight of the evening was the BAFTA fellowship awarded to Dame Mary Berry for her significant contributions to television, alongside journalist Martin Lewis, who received a special award for his impactful work in British public life.

In a surprising twist, Narges Rashidi, known for her role in Prisoner 951, took home the Leading Actress award. The audience also celebrated comedian Alan Carr's victory in the first edition of The Celebrity Traitors UK, with a second season already in the works in the Scottish Highlands.
