Owen Cooper Makes History at BAFTA TV Awards 2026
Owen Cooper's Remarkable Achievement
Owen Cooper, a 16-year-old actor, has once again made headlines by winning the BAFTA TV Award for Supporting Actor. His portrayal of Jamie Miller, a 13-year-old boy involved in a tragic incident, has also earned him accolades such as the Emmy Award, Golden Globe, Critics' Choice Actor Award, Gotham Award, and Independent Spirit Award. The BAFTA TV Awards 2026 took place in London on May 10, where Cooper's series Adolescence and the comedy Amandaland emerged as major winners. Previously, the Netflix limited series had secured two awards at the BAFTA TV Craft Awards last month, with Stephen Graham and Christine Tremarco, who play Jamie's parents, also receiving recognition.
The ceremony, hosted by Greg Davies, saw attendance from notable figures including Severance star Adam Scott, The Studio's Seth Rogen, and The Celebrity Traitors winner Alan Carr. Dame Mary Berry, known for hosting Great British Bake Off, was honored with the BAFTA fellowship for her significant contributions to television. Additionally, journalist Martin Lewis received a special BAFTA Television award for his impactful work in British public life. Narges Rashidi, known for her role in Prisoner 951, surprised many by winning the Leading Actress award. The audience also celebrated the emotional victory of comedian Alan Carr in the inaugural season of The Celebrity Traitors UK, with a second season currently in production in the Scottish Highlands.
