A decade ago, Nitesh Tiwari's film Dangal shattered box office records in China, and it remains a benchmark in the industry. Following its success, the Chinese market saw a decline in Hindi films, with no significant releases in dubbed versions. However, recent reports indicate that Tiwari is set to return to China with his new project, Ramayana. The filmmaker, along with producer Namit Malhotra, is planning an extensive promotional tour in September, ahead of the film's theatrical release on Diwali 2026.

According to a report from Midday, Tiwari and Malhotra are currently negotiating with Chinese distributors for a four-day promotional event for Ramayana, featuring stars like Ranbir Kapoor, Yash, and Sai Pallavi. A source has disclosed that they are organizing a press conference and a screening at the Pingyao International Film Festival on September 24, followed by a promotional tour during China's Golden Week starting October 1. The Chinese market has been closed to Bollywood films since 2020, and the final approval for this plan is still pending.
