WWE had initially planned for Nikki Bella to face one of the women's tag team champions, but the storyline shifted when Liv Morgan, the former champion, sustained an injury.

Nikki Bella is set to make her return to the ring during the Evolution Battle Royal on Sunday, July 13, at WWE Evolution 2025. Although she has been competing solo without her twin sister Brie, Nikki expressed to Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos that her comeback would feel complete only with the Bellas reuniting.
