Mumbai Police Investigates Threatening Email Targeting Amitabh Bachchan and Diljit Dosanjh

Mumbai Police are currently investigating a threatening email that named veteran actor Amitabh Bachchan and singer Diljit Dosanjh. The email, which was sent to a school in Bandra-Kurla Complex, raised alarms about potential attacks on specific dates. The letter included pro-Khalistan slogans and was linked to a group claiming to be the 'Khalistan National Army'. As security concerns mount, the police are taking the matter seriously, especially with Dosanjh's upcoming concert in Mumbai. Event organizers have clarified that while permissions were temporarily withheld, the concert is still set to proceed following discussions with authorities.

Threatening Email Sparks Police Investigation

Mumbai: On Friday, the Mumbai Police were alerted to a threatening email that mentioned the residence of legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan and also referenced singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh.

An investigation has been initiated by the police, with further details pending. The email was reportedly sent to a school located in the Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) area, prompting the police to take action.

The correspondence included references to both Amitabh Bachchan and Diljit Dosanjh, implying that Dosanjh might also be at risk, although he was not directly threatened.

Specific claims about potential attacks were made in the letter, which identified Bachchan’s home, Jalsa, and cited October 31 and November 27 as dates for these alleged threats. It also mentioned a supposed bomb threat related to Dosanjh at Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27.

The letter contained pro-Khalistan slogans and was attributed to a group named the 'Khalistan National Army'. The validity of the letter and its claims have yet to be independently confirmed.

The message outlined various locations and times, warning of a possible attack on the Mayor’s office at 3 p.m. and schools at 1 p.m.

A police representative noted that Diljit Dosanjh is scheduled to perform at Mahalaxmi Racecourse on November 27 as part of his India tour. The officer also mentioned that the Delhi Police had previously denied permission for Dosanjh’s concert in Delhi due to security issues.

Recently, the Delhi Police had temporarily withheld permission for Dosanjh’s concert on October 30 in the national capital, citing similar security concerns.

Event organizer BookMyShow Live clarified that reports suggesting the concert was canceled were inaccurate. They stated that while permission for the event was temporarily withheld, it did not equate to cancellation. The Delhi Police requested enhanced safety, traffic, and crowd management measures due to the festive season and increased security needs.

Following a productive meeting with the Delhi Police, BookMyShow Live presented a comprehensive plan and assured compliance with all security and traffic regulations. As a result, permission for the concert was eventually granted.
