Mukesh Khanna Addresses Samay Raina's Comedy Special

Recently, comedian Samay Raina stirred up discussions with his remarks on the controversy surrounding India's Got Latent during his comedy special, Still Alive. This incident led to multiple FIRs against the judges, including Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, Ashish Chanchalani, and Raina himself. In response to the uproar, Samay made jokes about Mukesh Khanna's reaction to the situation. In an exclusive interview, Mukesh Khanna expressed that Raina is provoking him and the legendary Amitabh Bachchan.

Mukesh Khanna's Take on Samay Raina's Jokes

During the interview, Khanna shared his thoughts on how content is consumed in today's digital age. He emphasized that there are always two perspectives: the performer and the audience. He noted that freely available content naturally attracts viewers, stating, "There are two perspectives, one is the viewer and the other is the actor… if it’s available for free, why wouldn’t people watch it?" He cautioned that high view counts do not necessarily equate to meaningful content, saying, "Just because it got 15 million views doesn’t mean it’s significant." Khanna pointed out that controversy often drives content virality, but creators must be aware of their influence on younger audiences, remarking, "We affect the children and youth of this country."

Khanna also recounted his decision to decline an invitation to The Kapil Sharma Show, as he disagreed with its format. Instead, he opted to create his own show, emphasizing the importance of conducting interviews with respect. He criticized what he termed 'commercial drama,' where creators prioritize views and profit over the potential negative impact on youth, stating, "For profit, the youth is being corrupted… there should be a conscience."

Khanna's Reaction to Online Language and Controversial Jokes

Khanna expressed his dismay at the normalization of inappropriate language online, particularly reacting to a controversial joke made by Ranveer Allahbadia during the India’s Got Latent episode. He remarked, "Using such words about parents is wrong… I was shocked to see people laughing at it." He also addressed claims that Shaktimaan harmed children, firmly rejecting these allegations. "There’s no right to say that… children were never harmed. That was a rumor, and I have won the case regarding it," he asserted, highlighting that an entire generation grew up positively influenced by Shaktimaan.

Concerns Over Jokes About Amitabh Bachchan

Khanna further criticized jokes involving Amitabh Bachchan, referencing George Orwell's belief that humor should serve a purpose. He stated, "He’s unnecessarily provoking me and Amit ji (Amitabh Bachchan). I was upset because Orwell once said that a joke is a mini revolution. Does he think his joke about Amitabh Bachchan will spark a revolution? Why quote something you’re not embodying?" He expressed concern over the implications of such jokes, questioning the intent behind them. "People are rallying behind him. Why is he doing this? I won’t let him off easily—his 1.5 million fans are bound to support him. When people say they troll me, they will—those are just sycophants of his." Khanna concluded that he remains unfazed by trolling and will continue to voice his opinions.
