Mumbai, July 17: Singer Monali Thakur has voiced her support for activist Sonam Wangchuk, urging the Indian government to engage in constructive dialogue.

In a heartfelt message shared on Instagram, Monali emphasized the importance of respectful communication, asserting that dialogue is essential for a robust democracy. She expressed her desire for the situation to be resolved through understanding and compassion. Her note included, “Dear Sonam Wangchuk Sir, I want to express my heartfelt sentiments. Few possess the wisdom, integrity, and courage to pose challenging yet necessary questions like you do. In these trying times for our nation, such voices are not merely valuable; they are crucial.”

“For many, including past and future generations, individuals like you symbolize hope that thoughtful dialogue and humanity can prevail. Without those who prioritize principles over convenience, the future appears daunting.”

Monali further stated, “I do not intend to pressure you to end your fast. I merely wish to convey my unwavering support for the principles you uphold. However, it is vital for you to remain safe! I respectfully urge the Government of India not to let this moment pass unnoticed. Please initiate a conversation.”

Activist Sonam Wangchuk's health has reportedly deteriorated as he enters the 20th day of his hunger strike. Medical professionals have cautioned that his extended fast could lead to severe health complications if it continues.

The 59-year-old activist is demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over allegations concerning the NEET paper leak and has called for public participation in the Cockroach Janta Party’s (CJP) planned march to Parliament on July 20.
