Mohanlal's Drishyam 3 Release Pushed to May
Mumbai: Fans of Malayalam cinema will have to wait a bit longer to see their favorite star Mohanlal in the upcoming film Drishyam 3.
On Monday, the production team revealed the new release date for this much-anticipated drama. The third chapter of the acclaimed Drishyam series is now set to hit theaters on May 21, coinciding with Mohanlal's birthday.
Originally, Drishyam 3 was scheduled for release on April 2 this year, but it has been postponed.
Mohanlal shared the updated release date with his followers on social media, stating, "The past never stays silent…it only waits. Georgekutty arrives, May 21st 2026. #Drishyam3 | Worldwide Release (sic)."
There had been speculation for some time regarding a possible delay in the release of director Jeethu Joseph's film.
Earlier reports suggested that the production team was considering a postponement due to ongoing tensions in the Gulf region.
Mohanlal completed filming for Drishyam 3 in December of the previous year, and a video of him celebrating with the crew went viral online.
He began working on this project on the same day he received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, the highest honor in Indian cinema.
Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the Aashirvad Cinemas banner, the film will feature Mohanlal reprising his iconic role as Georgekutty, alongside Meena as Rani George, Ansiba Hassan as Anju George, Esther Anil as Anumol "Anu" George, Asha Sharath as Geetha Prabhakar, Siddique as Prabhakar, Murali Gopy as IG Thomas Bastin IPS, and K. B. Ganesh Kumar as CI Philip Mathew.
To recap, the first film in the Drishyam series debuted in 2013 and set a new standard for Malayalam cinema, followed by a sequel released in 2021.
