Fire Erupts in Luxury Bus on Mumbai-Goa Highway
A private luxury bus caught fire on the Mumbai-Goa highway in Raigad district, Maharashtra, but fortunately, all 44 passengers managed to escape unharmed, according to police reports.
An official stated that the incident occurred around 2 AM on Saturday near the Kashedi tunnel in the Poladpur area. The driver noticed a problem after one of the tires burst and promptly instructed the passengers to evacuate the bus.
The bus was transporting 44 passengers from Mumbai to Malvan in Sindhudurg district when the tire burst and ignited a fire. The driver applied emergency brakes and urged everyone to exit the vehicle immediately.
By the time the passengers disembarked, the flames had already spread to other parts of the bus. Upon receiving the alert, police and firefighters arrived at the scene, halting traffic on both sides of the highway to establish a safety perimeter.
During this time, an explosion occurred in the bus's diesel tank; however, all passengers had reached a safe distance by then, and no injuries were reported.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze by 3 AM, allowing traffic to resume on the highway. Authorities have registered a case at the Poladpur police station, and an investigation is underway.
