Michelle Obama Reveals Her All-Time Favorite Movie: A Holiday Classic!
Michelle Obama's Favorite Film Unveiled
In a recent episode of her podcast, "IMO with Michelle Obama & Craig Robinson," Michelle Obama opened up about her personal preferences, specifically naming her favorite film. During a lively discussion with actor Will Ferrell, she revealed her love for the festive favorite "Elf," a revelation that caught many off guard. Obama passionately declared, "When I tell people Elf is my favorite movie of all time, I’m not joking!"
On her Instagram, she further expressed her enthusiasm for "Elf," dubbing it "my favorite movie on the planet of all time, the only movie that I watch again and again and again." She shared how the film has a remarkable ability to uplift her mood, despite her usual reluctance to rewatch films. "So whenever I want to feel better — no, literally — I make other people watch it with me so that I can say, 'Wait, here it comes,'" she noted, emphasizing the joy it brings her.
Will Ferrell, who famously played Buddy the Elf, expressed his happiness over Obama's fondness for the film. He also shared insights about his departure from "Saturday Night Live," mentioning that "Elf" was a significant factor in that decision. "I left, I'd been there seven years... it just felt like I'd had enough momentum," he explained, recalling that he didn't have a pile of scripts waiting for him at that time.
Ferrell also reflected on the creative journey of making "Elf," acknowledging the considerable effort that went into its development. "It was an amazing concept, but it needed a lot of work. And so we kind of rewrote the whole thing," he stated. He admitted that he never anticipated the film would become such a cultural phenomenon, saying, "I had no idea that we had like lightning in a bottle, but we did."
Since its release in 2003, "Elf" has captured the hearts of many, telling the story of Buddy, a human raised by elves at the North Pole. Upon learning about his true origins, Buddy sets off on an adventure to locate his biological father in New York City. The film has since established itself as a cherished holiday classic, beloved for its heartwarming narrative and humor.
