Sinners Triumphs at the NAACP Image Awards

The film Sinners made a remarkable impact at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards, securing an impressive 13 wins out of its 16 nominations. This includes a nod for Best Motion Picture among 18 categories at the recent event. Michael B. Jordan, the film's lead actor, was honored with the prestigious Entertainer of the Year award. Directed by Ryan Coogler, Sinners had previously garnered 10 awards at non-televised events. During the live broadcast from Pasadena Civic Auditorium, it added three more accolades to its collection. In his heartfelt acceptance speech, Jordan celebrated Black identity and dedicated his award to the late Chadwick Boseman.

While receiving the Entertainer of the Year award, Jordan expressed his gratitude, stating, "You all don’t realize how much this means to me. I used to sneak in here as a kid, around 15 years old." He continued, "This place has always made me feel celebrated and encouraged. You made me feel seen and loved, and that’s why I cherish being here. I dedicate this award to Chadwick Boseman." He concluded by thanking his family and affirming, "I love being Black. I love you all."

Ryan Coogler's Heartfelt Message

Ryan Coogler, while accepting the Best Motion Picture award, shared a powerful message: "For over four centuries, many lies have been told about our people. A lie, regardless of who speaks it, remains a lie, while the truth, no matter how powerless the speaker, is still the truth. You are loved, beautiful, powerful, and mighty. Thank you all for your support." He expressed his gratitude to the jury and audience for their love towards Sinners.
