Mumbai: Renowned as a six-time world champion, Mary Kom has an impressive record of over 50 international matches in her illustrious amateur boxing career. Now, as she steps into the reality show 'Bigg Boss', she emphasizes that her journey is one of a kind, stating there will never be another 'Mary Kom'.

When asked about who might follow in her footsteps in boxing, the celebrated athlete, affectionately known as 'Magnificent Mary', firmly responded, "In my opinion, no one."

Elaborating on her thoughts, the London Olympic Bronze medalist explained, "The reason is simple: discipline is lacking. Many boxers may win once or twice, but true consistency is rare. Only I have achieved that level in India."

Mary noted that while many emerging boxers are performing admirably, they often become complacent after achieving fame and success. "Once they reach a certain level, they seem satisfied and lose their drive. So, I believe one Mary Kom is enough," she stated, reflecting on her own record as the most successful boxer at the world championships in 2019.

She also highlighted the potential of Northeastern talents like Jadumani Singh Mandengbam and Lovlina Borgohain, expressing pride in their achievements. "Both are excelling in their careers. Jadumani hails from my home state of Manipur, while Lovlina is from Assam. I hope they continue to shine in upcoming competitions like the Asian Games and the Olympics," she added.

Mary's life story was brought to the big screen in the 2014 film 'Mary Kom', featuring Priyanka Chopra in the lead role. She expressed her hopes for the future of boxing in the Northeast, wishing for continued success in major tournaments.

Discussing her decision to join 'Bigg Boss 20', Mary shared, "I feel this platform is significant, and I want to explore how I interact with others and manage relationships in this environment."
