This prestigious Doctor of Letters (D.Litt) degree acknowledges his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema over a career that spans more than fifty years. The accolade was presented by Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar during the university's graduation ceremony, which was attended by various ministers, members of the academic council, and other dignitaries. This honor marks the third honorary doctorate for Mammootty, who previously received similar accolades from the University of Calicut and the University of Kerala in 2010.
