Fans of Blackpink, get excited! Lisa's first solo documentary, titled Always Lalisa, is officially part of the lineup for the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), scheduled from September 10 to 20. Directed by the talented Sue Kim, this feature-length documentary was first revealed by Sony Music Vision in 2025. It will be showcased in TIFF's Gala Presentations alongside films like A Talent for Murder, All About Corinne, Atonement, and Babies. The documentary runs for 97 minutes, with the premiere date yet to be confirmed.

Premiere Details for 'Always Lalisa'

The TIFF social media account has announced its lineup for Special and Gala presentations, which includes Always Lalisa. The documentary's synopsis highlights Lisa's evolution from a young dreamer to a global K-pop sensation, showcasing her journey through Blackpink and beyond.

This one-and-a-half-hour film will delve into Lisa's experiences while working on her debut solo album Alter Ego, her groundbreaking performance at Coachella, and her acting role in Mike White's The White Lotus Season 3 for HBO. Additionally, she is currently involved in several acting projects for Netflix. The documentary will also highlight her return to Thailand to reconnect with family and friends. It will be presented in English, Thai, and Korean, with appearances expected from her fellow Blackpink members Jennie, Rose, and Jisoo.

Director Sue Kim spent a year documenting Lisa's life to create this film. Kim previously directed A24’s The Last of the Sea Women, which premiered at TIFF in 2024, and she is also an executive producer for Apple TV+’s K-Pop Idols. Her documentary The Speed Cubers was even shortlisted for an Oscar.

Among the other Special Presentations at TIFF are Peter Farrelly's I Play Rocky, which explores the making of Sylvester Stallone’s iconic 1976 film Rocky, and Chris Rock's Misty Green, featuring a star-studded cast including Rosalind Eleazar, Adam Driver, Daniel Kaluuya, Anna Kendrick, Topher Grace, and Anthony Anderson. Renowned directors like Danny Boyle, Pedro Almodóvar, Cristian Mungiu, Andrew Haigh, Mike Leigh, Ryûsuke Hamaguchi, and Hirokazu Kore-eda will also have their films screened. Additionally, Indian filmmaker Ritchie Mehta's Phoolan, which chronicles the life of Phoolan Devi, is set to have its world premiere and will later be available on Amazon Prime Video.
